Choosing Outdoor Lighting
Those who want to illuminate their yards and gardens should take a look at solar lighting for an economical solution. Solar lighting is incredibly cost effective and costs virtually nothing after the initial purchase. Each light has its own solar panel that stores the sun’s energy in a battery to power the light when it becomes dark. Most batteries are able to store enough power to run the lights even when days are too cloudy to collect energy.
New LED solar lighting is more efficient than previous models which used incandescent lights, as LEDs use a fraction of the energy. LEDs also have a much longer lifespan, meaning the cost to replace the lights are much lower. Also since each light is separate you don’t have to worry about the entire system failing if one light gives out. There are also no cables so you don’t have to dig trenches, and no special skills are needed to install the lights.
In order for a solar outdoor lighting system to work its best, one must ensure that each light is placed in an area where it will receive as much sunlight as possible. This may involve moving the lights to different areas of the yard when the seasons change and sun moves to a different area of the horizon.
There are a variety of different styles of solar outdoor lighting, from lamps to decorative rocks and figures that light up at night, providing accents during the day and illuminating your yard at night.
